I am not too big on poetry. I can be good at it if i put my mind to it. And if it's the right stuff I love reading it. Some people are just gifted when it come to the field of poetry. for example: Some poetry i came across

By Maya Angelou
Alone
Still I Rise

I found these two poems of hers on a list of some of the most popular contemporary poets on poets.org.
I think that she writes very well. Her poerty, i think can be understood and enjoyed by many different types of people.
I enjoyed the "Still I Rise" poem the most. Check it out!!!

HaPpY NeW YEaR !!!

So, yet another year has gone by. These past years have seem to have flown by insanley fast! I , myself, have not made a new years resolutions. Mostly because of the fact that half of the population that does make one never actually carry it out. It sounds bad but its true. I know so many people who make these _what seem to be simple New Years Resolutions that are never even started! so i choose not to make one, i just simply make little changes on my own for the year without naming them a resolution( that is if i make any changes at all). But .... for those of you who did make resolutions-----> the best of luck to you.

well on with 2007!!! 2006 was sort of a drag for me. not to many great things happened. but i plan on making this year much much greater.

Class of 2007! I look forward most to the day we all graduate. coming up really soon! Then we get to figure out what we are going to do for the rest of our lives! :) how funn!

well , an AMAZING 2007 to all!!!

65yr old Stanton Can Finally See!!!

So i read this article about the 65 year old Woman... partricia Stanton. She had been blind for her whole life until just recently. She had an eye transplant done. In order for this to be done someone whom passed would have to have donated their organs to the hospitals and people in need. So Stanton used an eye from a donor and now she can see!

the story was very touching. She talks about how wonderful it is to be able to finally see her childerens faces and pictures and the sky and just about everything else in the world.

It really just makes you realize and appreciate they things in life we take for granted. i can't even dream what it would be like to not be able to look up in the sky and see ther stars at night or, not being able to play any kind of sport cuz i wouln't be able to see. This story just makes you think about everything you've got.

Did'ja Ever Wonder......

did'ya ever wonder,
1. Ever wonder about those people who spend $2 a peice on those little bottles of Evian water? Try speling Evian backwards: NAIVE
2. Isn't making a smoking section in a restaurant like making a peeing section in a swimming pool? ( my sentiments exactly )
3. OK... so if the Jacksonville Jaguars are known as the "Jags" and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are know as the "Bucs", what does that make the Tennessee Titans?...
4. If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea.. does that mean that one enjoys it?
5.There are three religous truths: A. Jews do not recongnize Jesus as the Messiah
b. Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the leader of the Christian faith.
c. Baptists do not recognize each other in the liquor store or at Hooters.
6. If people from poland are called poles, why aren't people from Holland called Holes?
7. Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery?
8. If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?
9. Why do croutons come in airtight package? aren't they just stale bread to begin with?
10. Why si sa person who plays the piano called a pianist but a person who drives a racecar is not called a racist?
11. Why isn't the number 11 pronounced onety one?
12. If lawyers are disbarred and clergyman defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed?
13. If Fed Ex and UPS were to merger, would they call it Fed UP?
14. Do lipton Tea employees take coffee breaks?
15. What hair color do they put on the driver licenses of bald men?
16. I was thinking avout how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me ... they're cramming for their final exam.
17. I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so i wondered what do chinese mothers use>? toothpicks?
18. Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the post office? what are we supposed to do, write them? why don't tahty put their pics on the postage stamps so the mailman can look for then while they deliver the mail?
19. If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
20. you never really learn to swear until you start working for the Buffalo Police Dept.
21. Ever wonder what the speed of lighting would be it it didn't zig-zag?
22. If a cow laughed , would milk come out of her nose?
23. As income tax approaches, didn you ever notice ; when you put the two words "the" and "IRS" together it spells " THEIRS"?

Goggle...... now blocked at school!!!

Goggle has just recently been blocked @ our school. I don't see a good reason why it should be blocked. I guess it was just because a stundent found a way to access myspace .. somehow. who knows.. but now for that one reason google is now blocked... No access!!! I don't think that it should have been blocked for just that one reason. If there are other reasons , I would like to know.

I think that google was good to have access to online at school. It has been used by myself and many other students for school related projects. I found that google was the best source on looking things up on how to build a rocket. Which was a recent project in one of my classes. Google IS used by stundents for educational reasons. not just myspace!
Also .. many of the seniors this year find google easy to use in looking up college related things.

I don't think that it was a very good idea to block google from the school computers. what do you think?

Do movies help to premote war>?

"You'll pretend you were men istead of babies, and you'll be played in the movies by Frank Sinatra and John Wayne or some of those other glamorous, war-lovoing, dirty old men. And war will look just wonderful, so we'll have a lot more of them. And they'll be fought by babies like the babies upstairs" (Slaughter-House-Five, p. 14).

i would have to say that i both agree and disagree with the quote from Slaughter- House- Five that movies help to promote war. some movies do and some movies don't . It just depends on the opinion of whoever is making the movie. i would consider the movie Pearl Harbor and an anti war movie. It showed how horrifying war is and how devestating it can be. Antother movie that would be concidered an anti-war movie is Full Metal Jacket. This movie showed the negative metal effects war can have on people. The one main character in this movie shoots himself while in the service. There are many other anti and pro war movies out there.

what?! ....booze?guns?rats?

I read the poem "Shooting Rats at the Bibb County Dump" by David Bottoms. i found this poem to be kind of disturbing actually. getting drunk and shooting rats?.... But, i suppose that the message that was suppose to come across was that like rats, us people also try to hide in the darkness. Not because we are getting shot at (well possibly) but, hide instead from the things we are afraid of in society.
those are my thoughts on the poem.
